Just like any other Wetherspoons, half decent grub at half decent prices and well priced drinks. Good place to go for a bite to eat or to start a night out with friends. Staff are all pretty friendly too!

So I'm from California but spent a few months in Scotland. One night my friends announced we were going to the Salt Cot. I was like, "Cool! Let me change out of my Gryffindor sweater and tie so I don't look like a cosplaying idiot there!"
But they were like, "Nope! We're leaving now!" So off we went.
I was only 20 and the drinking age back home is 21 (and I don't weigh much anyway) so I went up to the bar to order a simple, non-alcoholic apple juice.
The bartender was like, "Can I see some ID?"
I thought that was weird. I shouldn't need an ID for booze-free apple juice.
I pulled out my CA driver's license and she was like, "Do you have your passport?"
I said, "Not on me. I can't bring my passport with me everywhere. I don't want to lose it. Why do I need my passport to buy apple juice?"
"Well do you have a UK driver's license? That'll work."
"No, of course not. Why do I need a document saying I can drive in the UK to buy an apple juice from you? Why do I need an ID at all to buy apple juice?"
"Well you see, it's after 9pm. It's 'Bar Hours.' We don't serve kids after 9pm."
"But I'm not a kid. I showed you my CA driver's license that says I'll be turning 21 this year. Why isn't that good enough to buy a non-alcoholic drink?" (It should've been enough to buy an alcoholic drink, if I'd wanted one.)
"Sorry. Can't prove you're not a kid, no drinks - alcoholic or otherwise."
My friends got to order what they wanted and some of them were younger than me!
Maybe I wouldn't have had this problem if I wasn't stuck in what looked like a British secondary school uniform. Maybe I should've shown her it says "Harry Potter," on the tie's tag.
Either way, I had a valid ID proving my age and was still denied a non-alcoholic beverage just because it was after 9pm and I have a young face. Thanks Salt Cot.

Food average, drink prices reasonable, decor starting too look tired, staff are good as is expected.

Good selection of meals at very fair prices. Handy for breakfast or lunch while in town.
